Year in and year out, Greenwich High School’s lacrosse program is used to be on top. That is why the Cardinals were in familiar territory when they led 5-0 over Trumbull after the first quarter of their season opener.
Unlike many of Greenwich’s opponents, Trumbull did not back down after the Connecticut giant dealt its early blow. The Golden Eagles fought back and during the third quarter, managed to tie the game a 6-6.
Greenwich added on two goals before the fourth to take an 8-6 lead into the final stanza. The Cardinals managed to hold of Trumbull throughout the quarter and ended the game with 11-7.
